The Vanguard Stocks & Shares ISA allows investors to choose their own investments in ETFs, mutual funds, and money market funds, offering fractional shares so investors can invest for less money – without having to buy whole units. You're also able to select pre-built portfolios or opt for a professionally-managed option. This ISA doesn't offer individual shares or commodities.

As this is a flexible ISA, you can withdraw and redeposit in the same tax year without affecting your annual ISA limit.

Uninvested cash held within the account can earn 1.95% (AER) interest, though should not be used as an alternative to a bank because it is an investment product.

In-specie transfers are supported, meaning you can transfer your portfolio from another investment platform – or to another platform – as long as the same assets are available on both.

Vanguard ranks joint-24th by Fi Fee for small investors (£10,000 portfolios), and they drop down to 27th for large portfolios (balances of £500,000). To invest, you’ll need a minimum lump sum deposit of £500 or an ongoing monthly investment of at least £100.

Investors can transfer their investments in-specie, meaning their portfolio can be moved to or from another platform without being converted to cash first.

Fractional shares are supported, meaning it's possible to invest every penny you deposit.

When it comes to a pension offering, this SIPP covers some (but not all) of the major things the average person would be looking for: drawdown is supported (you can start withdrawing your pension in retirement) and company directors can deposit via their business, but employers can't make contributions to their employee’s SIPP.
