Financial Interest uses affiliate links to help keep our business, well, in business.

However, we do things very differently to most other publishers and influencers.

We’re proud of our morals and integrity, and we wanted to shout about those things on this page – whilst also giving you full transparency on how we earn money.

Firstly, we never accept direct sponsorship from brokers, financial platforms, or any company that could potentially compromise our impartiality. This is clearly stated at all times on our sponsorship page.

This means a financial company can never pay us for a feature, or to be included in a piece of content, and we can say whatever we want about any financial platform at any time.

Damien, our founder, has rejected hundreds of thousands of pounds in sponsorship money from brokers, pension companies and more for this very reason.

He is one of the only ‘influencers’ in the personal finance space that does not accept sponsorships from financial institutions.

This is why if he runs a sponsorship on his channel it will usually be something related to him going bald or needing to eat healthier.

Secondly, we try to apply to affiliate programs of all companies that offer them – whether we recommend the company or not.

We want to show that affiliate deals do not impact our ability to judge companies fairly. If a company has an affiliate scheme, we will join it and use affiliate links within our content (even if we’re saying we don’t recommend them).

Our opinions are never swayed by whether we can earn money from an affiliate link. Damien spent years stating Vanguard was his favourite platform for investing. Vanguard has never paid Damien a penny, including via an affiliate scheme because they do not offer one.

Martin Lewis, the founder of Money Saving Expert, is a big inspiration for how we do things. He proved that you don’t need to be in the pockets of big companies to help lots of people and make a living whilst doing so, and that using affiliate links is perfectly reasonable when you show that what you’re recommending is well researched, fair, and balanced.
